I know it has always been one of my failings and why I always kept on putting weight back on but exercise and me just don’t mix. I don’t know if it is because the weather where I live is always terrible but the thought of going out for a walk or run in the pouring rain just doesn’t do it for me!
Most diets I have seen say you should also do 30 minutes of exercise everyday. It sounds simple enough and for some maybe it is but for me I have a problem. Because I don’t exercise very often, the first time I do I wake up next morning and can’t move properly because my legs ache so much. It is painful for days and this really makes me not want to exercise again. I know if I do it more then this will probably get better but I don’t seem to be able to find the time.
OK, I’m moving onto something else now because it sounds like I am moaning all the time!
Even though I have an issue exercising doesn’t mean you have to. There are a variety of easy exercises you can do each day that won’t take too long but will help you burn calories, so here goes:
Start With A Walk
This probably won’t come as a surprise to you and you have probably heard it 10,000 times but walking is one of the best exercises you can do. Even a short walk of about 30 minutes can burn between 100-150 calories. If you walk fast it will be even more. So try to do what you can each day. If you generally visit a shop or place nearby, is there one a little bit further away? If so, walk to that one instead. It really helps to get the body moving and heart working as it should do.
Can You Ride There?
Cycling burns off more calories than walking, so is there anywhere you could cycle each day? If not, do you have time to go out for 30 minutes at night? Or even in the morning? If there is then go on….get on your bike!
Housework And DIY
Another easy way to burn some calories without actually realising you are exercising is to do the housework or some sort of DIY. With these you are constantly moving your body, so you’ll be burning calories at the same time.
So as you can see, there are some ways of exercising each day without having to tell yourself “Oh lord, I need to exercise today!”. If you can trick your brain into doing things that don’t trigger off alarm bells, then you will have more chance of actually doing them and not putting them off.
