I think one of the first diets I ever tried was the Atkins Diet. It was at the time when it was first introduced and became popular with many celebrities. I think Jennifer Aniston and other stars were raving about it, so I thought I would give it a go.
I wanted to do everything the right way, so I download the Atkins Diet sheets that I found from a website. It had the total carbohydrates of all the various foods that you were allowed to eat. I was very meticulous about working out how much I could and could not eat each day. As long as I didn’t hit the 20 grams of carbs a day, I knew I was in good stead.
Here’s an atkins carbs worksheet that tells you exactly what you can and cannot eat.
It actually went quite well and I did start losing weight. One thing I did find was that I wasn’t really hungry all the time because I constantly was picking on small bits of food. What I found helpful was cutting up cubes of ham, cheese and corned beef and having them on a plate in the fridge. Whenever I felt hungry I just grabbed a few cubes and it did help to stop the hunger pains.
Plus I knew that no matter how much I ate, I couldn’t go over the 20 grams because they each contained hardly any. I had one item a day which was 10-15 grams and just used the small bits of meat and cheese throughout the day.
I followed the whole ketosis plan and limited myself for the first part of the diet, then increased my carb intake as I went along. I think by the end of a month, I lost about 7 pounds, which I was very impressed with. I did find it quite an easy diet to be on because I like meat. If you’re a vegetarian you might be limited with what you can eat.
All in all, it was quite a successful diet and I will almost certainly be trying it again. Click Here to visit the Atkins website.
